About Us

Dogs Unleashed is a non-profit dedicated to establishing an official space for dogs on Wyman Park. For over two decades, the lower field in Wyman Park along Stony Run has been a welcoming space for neighbors and friends to meet, get to know each other, and bring their dogs to run, play and exercise.

Our community consists of all types of people and dogs with two things in common: a love of dogs and a commitment to making the lower field a safe space used and shared by all. Wyman Park wasn’t always a safe place. Trash littered the stream, and drug use was rampant. It was our strong community of dog walkers who reclaimed the park and began the clean-up. Together, we are the stewards of Wyman Park.

We have built a strong community that should be supported. Unfortunately, the enforcement action in the park over these past months is destroying this community and frayed our feelings about the City and those who are supposed to represent us.

All we are asking for is a sane policy that supports the large community we have built and that promotes multiple uses of the field. We favor making the lower field an official off-leash dog park. Baltimore City Recreation and Parks Department already has specific guidelines for implementing both fenced and open off-leash dog parks. Implementing it would save time and taxpayer money.

Please join our diverse community and support the thousand's of pet parents that have responsibly exercised their dogs on Wyman Park for many years.
